The most obvious day trip destination is Florence. While you may not want to leave after spending the day there, you can see all the sights easily in one day. First, you will want to visit the Florence Duomo, which has a giant, red-tiled dome. Just off to the side of the Duomo is Giotto’s Campanile, which is a five-storied tower constructed in 1359. The outside is decorated with sculptures, artwork and decorative panels. You can also climb up the 414 steps to see great views of the city. You should also make sure to visit the Uffizi Gallery, where you will find a collection of Renaissance art by Da Vinci, Botticelli and Caravaggio. Another must-see is the Galleria dell’Accademia, which is where the famed statue of David by Michelangelo resides
